i see U No 1
„...For the French philosopher Michel Foucault the erosion
of life happens in heterogenous spaces. Ilona Pászthy creates such heterogenous spaces, in which life visibly erodes and hopes dissolve. Her production shows that
dance has left the space of the one-dimensional space.
Using a huge media installation consisting of cameras,
tape recorder, speakers, projectors and monitors, Pászthy transgresses the traditional stage aesthetic. So that she is disruptive of the perception of the audience. The imposed change of perspective transforms the passive observer to
an active voyeur. Rarely a performance has sustainably transformed the gaze of the audience. In our media overloaded world the installation is an advice for contemplative backpedaling.“
(Klaus Keil, Kölner Rundschau, 13.10.2009)
“IP Tanz offered its audience with a quality opportunity
to experience innovative and thought provoking dance
and new medias. Three idiosyncratic solos, individually
alive and engaging in their own right, whilst at the same
time moving and communicating as a dynamic ensemble. Quite a cliff hanger, I for one thoroughly enjoyed it and would be eager to see what happens next...” (Sarah DaFonseca – Dance Officer, Arts Council England,
East / Oct. 2009)
„...in her work Ilona Pászthy poses the question for private space. Where starts public space? Where Stopps privacy? Even the focus seems to be more towards the technical realization and dance seems to Stepp back a bit , this
conept is outstanding. The successive connection of the several spaces and the clever combination of the video images turns „I see U No 1“, the first part of the cycle
„I see U“ into a successful and avangardistic danceevent. (Henriette Westphal, AKT 7 / Nov. 2009)
